Frequently Asked Questions Q: When does my membership activate?
A: NASO-ON membership begins as soon as we receive and process your annual membership dues. You will begin receiving monthly information, including Referee magazine, ONBoard, and ONLine, shortly after your dues have been processed. Q: When will I receive my membership package?
A: Your membership package is mailed as soon as your membership dues are processed. Depending on your location, you should receive your package within 7-10 days after your membership dues are processed Q: Is the optional general liability insurance part of the NASO-ON benefit package?
A: NASO-ONs general liability coverage is an optional benefit. Groups must belong to NASO-ON to be eligible to purchase the coverage. Current rates for this optional program are $125, $175 or $225 depending on the size of your association. Insurance coverage runs from October 1 to September 30 each year. Q: Is Directors and Officers (D&O) coverage included in the General Liability program?
A: No, D&O coverage is purchased separately and requires a separate application form. Cost of D&O insurance is determined by a case-by-case basis by American Specialty and the underwriter of the coverage. Q: What is Referee magazine?
A: Referee is "the magazine of sports officiating." Published monthly, Referee covers all matters related to officiating including monthly columns covering baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and softball. Q: Whats the difference between the ONLine and ONBoard newsletters?
A: ONLine is delivered each month to NASO-ON members and prospects via e-mail. ONLine includes samples of articles and information about upcoming events and topics that will be in ONBoard. ONBoard is the monthly, printed newsletter that is sent to all NASO-ON members. ONBoard includes the latest information and new articles specifically developed for NASO-ON members. Q: How many free publications do NASO-ON members receive?
A: Referee and NASO publish as many as 30 new publications each year. NASO-ON-member associations can request one free copy of each new publication. The free book program is only valid for newly released publications promoted in the NASO ONBoard newsletter. Publications must be requested within 30 days of the mailing date of ONBoard. Q: Why do members of my association need NASO membership if we have NASO-ON membership?
A: NASO-ON membership is a group membership, not an individual membership. NASO membership provides benefits designed specifically for individual officials, including personal liability and assault protection insurance. NASO-ON does not provide insurance coverage for individual officials.
